The HK416 is a high-performance assault rifle developed by Heckler & Koch in direct collaboration with Delta Force (1st SFOD-D). It was designed in the early 2000s to solve reliability issues with the M4 carbine by replacing its direct impingement system with a short-stroke gas piston system derived from the G36.

Delta Force officially adopted the HK416 in 2004, replacing their M4 carbines after testing showed the piston system significantly reduced malfunctions and increased part longevity. Configuration: Delta units are often associated with the D10RS variant, featuring a 10.4-inch barrel. Common modifications seen on Delta rifles include the Geissele Super Modular Rail (SMR), EOTech optics, and various suppressors.
