The Knights Armament PDW is an experimental personal defense weapon designed by KAC. Like all personal defense weapons, the KAC PDW is designed to be compact and lightweight like an SMG, but have longer effective ranges (up to the low end of a standard combat rifle; around 250-300m). The PDW would be issued primarily to troops who are not front line infantry, but who might still need an effective defensive weapon in the event of an attack, such as tank crews, truck drivers, artillery troops, aircraft crews and other support troops.
